Gabe's Potty

May 8: In his new classroom, a lot of the kids are in the process of potty training, so Gabe asked for his own potty. We were happy to oblige (and sure won't miss those dirty diapers if this whole potty training thing really works), so got him a nice simple white plastic number. Problem is, he thinks the potty part makes a much better hat than a potty. Oh well... at least it's not just collecting dust!

Another "Smile"

May 7: Mom thought Gabe looked awfully cute this morning in his new globe shirt, so Gabe agreed to "smile" for a picture. Looks like this is a skill that he's still working on. It's pretty funny though, don't you think?

Manatee!

May 5: Today Gabe became a Manatee. That does not mean he became a sea-going mammal, but just that he moved up to the two-year-old room at his daycare. It's called the Manatee room. Gabe was really excited for his first day with "the big kids" and he was even willing to "smile" for the camera so mom could capture this momentous day. He had a great day too. He went outside twice, and both times (as he told mom later) "walked the WHOLE way." He also really loves his new friends in the room, and spent about an hour after getting into bed talking about them. We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Teamwork

May 4: Lucky for us Kristin and Brendan came over yesterday for pizza and to hang out. Gabe and Brendan really liked playing together (for the most part), and they even managed to share a bit! Well, Brendan was happy to share, but Gabe was a bit grabby. Luckily Brendan was a great sport. Plus, there was pizza coming - that puts everyone in a good mood!

Keep Back 200 Feet

April 26: It was such a beautiful day in Brooklyn that we decided to take a walk by one of Gabe's favorite places: the Fire House. Not only were the doors to the fire house open, but BOTH trucks were outside. Gabe loved looking at them, and learned the difference between the engine and the hook & ladder truck.

On his own

April 26: Gabe is doing all sorts of things on his own now, and one of his favorites is the SLIDE!

Friends

April 25: After a lovely dinner with Harper and her mom, Gabe and Harper head home together.

Passover in Florida

April 18-21: We headed down to Gainesville to celebrate Passover with the Millers, et. al. It was a great trip, with fabulous food, lots of laughs, and delicious food! Gabe loved hanging out with his cousins, uncles & aunts, and of course Suzki and Pops. We also got to go to the Swamp and visit the alligator out front, and got some quality time with the water table. In all, though, his favorite part was the seder at Suzki & Pops' house where he did a great job kicking off the Four Questions with "Ma Nishtana," eating Matzah, and wearing his frog mask. Kids for Kids

April 16: This week Gabe's daycare had it's annual fund raiser for Imagine Kids for Kids, a program where all the daycare's centers raise money for a school in Kenya. Gabe's center hosted the Imagine Art Gallery; the kids' art projects were displayed and for sale (we picked up a few Gabe originals).

They also had a bake sale during the day, and to get in the spirit Gabe made some cookies to sell. He especially loved putting the sprinkles on the top, but also felt it was very important that he taste them before sending them off to be sold. He was pretty proud of his first time baking.

Gabe do it self

April 12: Gabe is learning how to get dressed by himself, and he likes to tell us all the time that he "did it self." Pants are still a bit tough because of the balancing part, but he's got the whole shirt thing down pretty well.

What's a matta?

April 6: Tonight we went to Arturo's, one of NYC's best old pizza joints. Gabe ate "the big piece" of pizza for the first time. He didn't see any need for mom or dad to cut it, and we guess he's right.

Cool New Shirt

April 3: Look at Gabe's cool new shirt! He loves fire trucks, and this shirt has become an instant favorite!

Patty Cake

We got a very cool new video gadget, and here's our first movie release. A little ditty by Gabe (it's patty cake, in case you can't understand him).

Grammy!

March 21-22: Grammy came to visit, and we had such a great time! Gabe especially loved reading to her, and he also loved his new book, Smash Crash! Grammy also brought Gabe a really special treat: A cool backpack with a construction hat, gloves, a level, and Gabe's favorite, "a smoother."
On Saturday morning, we stopped by the Brooklyn Heights Easter Egg Hunt. It was a pretty competitive hunt, and Gabe had no idea what was going on, since we hadn't discussed it with him at all, but he got right into the spirit, looking for eggs in the colors he likes best!

Slam Dunk

March 20: In honor of the first day of March Madness, Gabe did some shooting of his own. He's pretty good (in his own mind!).

Happy Birthday Mommy.

March 18: Today was mom's birthday, and it started with a great rendition of the song by Gabe, and also a really nice birthday picture! Later, Uncle Seth and Aunt Linnea came over for a nice visit. Seth came early to get a refresher course in picking Gabe up from Daycare, which was really fun. Gabe showed him all the trucks and cars on the way home. And when we got home, they did some coloring together. Seth also brought over his cool new computer, and Gabe got to use it. He's hooked (Gabe, that is... we all knew Seth was).

Happy Birthday Gianluca!

March 15: Today we went to Gymboree for the first time ever to celebrate Gianluca Putek's first birthday. We all had a great time. We loved the basketball hoop (boy are we ready for March Madness), the bubbles, and especially the birthday cake!

Walking Feet

Gabe is no longer really walking; he really prefers to run. This is often really cute, and leads many people to say "wow, he's fast." His teachers at daycare always are telling him to "use your walking feet." And it's a great way to tire him out on a cold but sunny afternoon like the one pictured here. It's not so cute, however, when you are trying to pay at the grocery store and he picks that very moment to "go outside." It's OK... I caught him. But he IS fast.

Happy to be Home

March 9: It was a great vacation, but we were happy to be home!

Suzki and Pops in the Hiz-ouse!

Feb. 28 - Mar. 4: This (LOOONG) weekend mom and dad decided to head out of town (out of the Country, actually) and Suzki and Pops came to stay with Gabe. A fantastic time was had by all. Gabe got to go to the NYC Transit Museum and drive the bus, and also to the Prospect Park Zoo where he saw that sea lions and kangaroos (which he is STILL talking about). And mom and dad got to relax in the sun in Mexico. Suzki and Pops were a little cold, having left their warmer home for the chill of NYC, but otherwise it was pretty much perfect. There are lots more pictures on Gabe's smugmug page.
Oh, and the way we know Gabe had such a good time other than his constant chatter about the weekend is that any time we do anything he doesn't like, he picks up the phone and yells "Pops? Suzki? hi!" We think he's trying to get them back up here as soon as possible!
